Will The Apothecary Diaries Have A Second Season? Mao Mao.webp

Maomao and Jinshi are getting closer and closer, especially after that cute moment at the end of “The Apothecary Diaries”. And the first season ended with that “I want more” atmosphere, right? But have they already announced if there will be more episodes? Will there be a second season of ‘The Apothecary Diaries’?

The second season of The Apothecary Diaries

Yes, there will be a second season of The Apothecary Diaries, scheduled for 2025. As for the possibility of a second season, after the end of the first, it was confirmed that “The Apothecary Diaries” will return for more mysteries and moments between Maomao and Jinshi. We don’t have an exact date yet, but Toho Animation has said it will be in 2025.. As the anime only covered two of the 14 available volumes of the novels, we still have a long way to go!

As for episodes, “The Apothecary Diaries” was planned to have between 22 and 24 episodes, covering two consecutive airing periods. The first season, which began in October 2023, had 24 episodes and ran until March 2024.

In a world where shonen and seinen anime dominate the most-watched lists, it’s rare to see a series that mixes drama, mystery and romance stand out. But “Diários do Boticário”, directed by Norihiro Naganuma, managed to capture the public’s attention with its engaging plot and charismatic characters. From a simple story to a manga that became a rage and then to a beloved anime, the series has won over fans wherever it goes.

The backdrop is Imperial China during the Tang Dynasty, which gives the series a special charm. And look, even if you’re not a fan of period stories, Maomao’s trajectory will win you over. She started out as a young girl taken to the Imperial Palace and ended up becoming something of a court forensic pathologist. It’s a game-changing story, literally.

“The Apothecary Diaries” began as a series of light novels written by Natsu Hyūga with illustrations by Touko Shino in 2011, and then became a manga in 2017. It took a while, but in 2023 the anime finally got off the ground, thanks to Toho Animation Studio and OLM.
