Then, when Luffy is poisoned. These attitudes show how good Oda is at showing the different sides of human nature.

Robin’s beginnings as a villain make more sense when you see what she went through. Since she was little, she was excluded because of her devil fruit ability, which left her with several arms. Although it hurts, it makes perfect sense for her not to go with the Straw Hat Pirates, because she would become a criminal. The promise to never forget her is moving, even though they know she will always have a place with them.
2. Luffy and Zoro Saving Smoker
Despite all the beef between them, Luffy tells Zoro to save Smoker from drowning. Smoker was always determined to catch Luffy and almost succeeded several times, thanks to his skills. But, as a devil fruit user, he doesn’t know how to swim, which almost cost him his life. Luffy’s decision to save Smoker, despite everything that happened, shows the greatness of his heart and the strong leadership he has.

This moment is one of the most tense in One Piece. Crocodile acting like a villain and almost finishing off Luffy is one of those things that leaves everyone on the edge of their seats. The scene is heavy and shows that Oda is not afraid to put the characters in extreme situations. Seeing Luffy almost losing his life makes him and everyone else rethink about leadership, goals and even how prepared they are for the challenges that lie ahead.
