Synopsis

Ten years ago, a fairy by the name of Daisy appeared and asked the child Eiji Hoshimiya what his one and only wish was. Although his wish remains a mystery, the consequences were catastrophic. In an event called the "Great Destruction," the world started to fall apart as everything collapsed and countless people died.

Now, Eiji is a high school student whose only concern is his sick sister. He does not remember what he wished for; all that he remembers is that his wish caused the Great Destruction. In the years since that event, thousands of other people have also received abilities to make their heart's desire come true. These people called "Orders" are believed to be evil and are hated by the general public. However, some of these Orders are after Eiji's life in vengeance for those that he killed. Will Eiji be able to survive the numerous assassination attempts? And the biggest mystery of all: what did he wish for, and what were his intentions in wishing for something that caused so much desolation?

Editor's Review
Big Order

“Big Order” is an anime that attempts to weave a complex narrative with a unique premise, but unfortunately falls short in its execution.

The story revolves around Eiji Hoshimiya, a young man who made a wish ten years ago that resulted in a catastrophic event known as the “Great Destruction”. Now, Eiji and others who have received similar powers, known as “Orders,” are feared and hated by the general public.

One of the main criticisms of “Big Order” is its unfocused narrative. The plot often feels disjointed, with numerous plot threads introduced but left unresolved. This lack of focus detracts from the overall storytelling, making it difficult for viewers to become invested in the narrative.

The animation quality of “Big Order” has also been criticized. The series attempts to incorporate 3D animation into a 2D show, but the result is less than stellar. The character designs and overall visual aesthetic fail to stand out, further diminishing the viewing experience.

The characters in “Big Order” are another area where the series struggles. Many of the characters feel like rehashed versions of characters from “Future Diary,” another series by the same creator. This lack of originality in character design and development makes it hard for viewers to connect with the characters on a deeper level.

The series’ music, while reminiscent of “Future Diary,” fails to make a significant impact. The soundtrack does little to enhance the emotional moments of the series, and often feels out of place.

Despite its shortcomings, “Big Order” does have some redeeming qualities. The premise of the series is intriguing, and the exploration of the consequences of one’s wishes provides an interesting backdrop for the narrative. However, these elements are not enough to overcome the series’ flaws.

In conclusion, “Big Order” is a series that had potential but was ultimately let down by its execution. Its unfocused narrative, subpar animation, and lackluster characters make it a difficult series to recommend.
