The creator of Delicious in Dungeon was very involved in the creation of the anime

The anime series adaptation of the manga Meshi Dungeon (Delicious in Dungeon) by Ryoko Kui premiered in January and its director revealed in an interview that the author was “very involved” in the creation of the anime.

In conversation with Anime Network, the director Yoshihiro Miyajima (SSSS.Dynazenon, episode director for SSSS.Gridman) stated:

Thanks to Studio TRIGGER, we were able to have a very good relationship with Kui-Sensei, but this is the first time we have adapted an original source into an anime as a studio.

We got comments from Kui-sensei, like, ‘I wish it went in this direction,’ and he gave a lot of guidance. I am so grateful and grateful for all the details and all the help she gives us to support us.

I can’t go into details, but I hope that when you watch the series, you can see that she was very involved and influenced the way we produced it.

With animation by the studio Trigger (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) we learn that the direction is by Yoshihiro Miyajima (SSSS.Dynazenon, episode direction by SSSS.Gridman), the argument is Kimiko Ueno (The Royal Tutor, Chimimo, Eternal Boys), the character design is by Naoki Takeda (animation direction by BNA: Brand New Animal) and the music is the responsibility of Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles, Black Butler: Book of Circus).

Meshi Dungeon (Delicious Dungeon) began publication in Harta magazine in February 2014 and ended on September 15, 2023.

Meshi Dungeon has been winning several awards and in 2015 it was considered the best manga of the year in Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!).

On the official website we can read:

When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked by a dragon in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and supplies… and a member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there’s just one problem: if they leave without food or money, they’re sure they’ll starve to death along the way! But Laios has a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slugs, snakes and even dragons… none are safe from the appetites of these gluttons!
