Tonari no Yokai-san video reveals anime premiere date

Oshiete Hokusai!: The Animation

The official website of the adaptation for anime from the manga Tonari no Yokai-san (The Youkai Next to Me) by naho has released a new promotional video. The video reveals that the premiere will take place on April 6, 2024in addition, you can listen to the opening theme song “Obake Himawari” (Ghost Sunflower) by Pii.

The animation is from the Liden Films studio, directed by Aimi Yamauchi (Salaryman’s Club). While the script is by Tomoko Konparu (Blue Spring Ride, Cherry Magic!) and character design by Shigemitsu Abe (Kingdom main animation, Aikatsu!).

Nobuhiro Andō designed the props, while Kenta Tsuboi served as art director. Emiko Onodera was responsible for the main color palette, and Naho Hasegawa directed the photographic composition. The music was provided by Avex Music Creative It is Blue Bird’s Nest, with sound direction by Daiki Hachimaki. Production is by ABC Animation.

Tonari no Yokai-san (The Youkai Next to Me) began to be published in 2018 on Twitterand ended in its 4th volume on April 7, 2022. The parallel story of mango will have two volumes, the first being released on August 18, 2024.

Synopsis of Tonari no Yokai-san

In the manga’s first story, a 20-year-old cat named Buchio suddenly evolves into a mythical creature Nekomata. Buchio worries about the reason why they suddenly transformed into a yōkai creature and together with a transforming fox named Yuri, they begin attending a “Bakegaku” academy for creatures.
